Hey made the top 5! Coming to this late as I was looking for a link to the podcast for someone but thank you guys!
As luck would have it I will be in Hereford next week but it’s not on show. Great videos
Love these videos, informative and visually stunning! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
All that same Ole wood but no new world species say osage.. want to sell the myth find some osage it would be left long after every species of wood you describe is harder more flexible rot resistant but not in the archeological record. I sailed all the way to Vineland to get the same Ole s@$$ come on now
Did anyone start reworking the Unst soapstone quarry. I think it was located about two miles south of Baltersound.
As I recall, Eric the Red was exiled from Iceland over a quarrel with a neighbour over box bed planks that ended with Eric killing the neighbour. To modern people, that sounds so petty but to a medieval Icelander, those planks represented a hefty investment, like stealing someone's car would be today.
I added soapstone to my trade goods years ago.so far a few small bowls and pots plus a duck and dolphin which are part of my toy display
Looks awesome, I'd love to visit one day.
Heill iæmbling, Jórvik!
Greetings from the US. Thank you for an excellent conversation!
Thanks so much for watching - glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent as always, thank you so much for posting!
These are great little videos!
Glad you like them! Thanks so much for watching!
I brought a nice iron one a few weeks ago.But i have to keep an eye open for one like yours. But the point on mine could have been used for poking people with.😂
stone in question here is from Eidsborg, Telemark. I, grew up some 45 minutes from the quarry and the quarry itself was in production until the 60s. It is sad to see tho that your reenactors/extras havent taken the time to prepare the stone for use instead of using the hewn raw rock to sharpen stuff.
Awesome info but dont forget that the Romans comercialised Oysters all over the UK.
I am really enjoying this series, thank you so much for making it for us all to enjoy and learn from.
We are a warrior people. Been invaded so many times
Love the editing and camera work 😊
🇳🇴
👍
Klebber from Shetland?
Idk about that mace guys. Are you sure thats historical? What about the atgeir? The viking halberd?
What a wonderful video, I learned a lot! Thank you and keep up the great work! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Puttees! Army kit before wwll
I have seen several (fragments and - ) complete Kauri/Cowry shells from found in the soul of Frisian terp mounds. A rim fragment if a particular large shell was worn smooth and notched at the end as if to be worn by a a string. Westergo always had strong ties with Denmark and AngliSaxon England from the fifth century AD on and ever before the Romans came. The shells from Friesland, Netherlands, point to the early middle ages, maybe the Viking age.
This was excellent. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Hello
My sacrifice to the algorithm so that this channel grows massive. Cheers thanks for keeping traditions alive.
Have just finished work and can't wait to get to York this evening!
Very cool. I enjoy hearing the sagas.
Thank you, that was so interesting. I do hope some day you solve the mystery of where the rest of the hoard went.
I went here many years ago without knowing anything about it. I thought it would be a tourist trap. Boy was I wrong. I was so glad I spent the money and went in. Thoroughly educational and enjoyable at the same time. Definitely recommend visiting.
❤️ "Promo sm"
You guys are so funny, thank you!!!
Awesome guys!
Oh my! What a tale! I am hoping you might do more of these. What an excellent series. Thank you so much for posting these. You are appreciated.
The suspense! I love these so much. Thank you for posting.

The ending! I can’t wait for the next one!
The suspense!
Intersting story but people not true Christopher sharp
As a Viking myself, I would love to go, but it would be a little pricey with the travel and accommodations and all that. Now that I know about it, maybe I can go in 2025 :)
Is Wunjo also used as a V? Not just a W
It sounds French😂
Nah, this is just Norwegian
.
That is stunning! I wonder how many variations were made and lost during the Viking and medieval age. Also it was very interesting seeing some of the background on the conservation side of things.
VIKING POO FROM AS OF BAD RABBITT ???
i read somewhere that the Saxons got their name from the Seaxe that they carried
I have had two pairs of reproduction socks with a hat and mittens for a few year's so the socks in a viking age shoe do keep your feet warm. But i did find a rabbit fur insole helped.
